Old Presbyterian Graveyard Purchased

The Old Presbyterian Graveyard in Charles Town, West Virginia, was officially purchased by Edge Hill Cemetery in January 2019. The cemetery board bought the historic, grassy lot located at the corner of South West Street and East Congress Street from the Charles Town Presbyterian Church.

New Columbarium installed

Edge Hill Cemetery now provides an alternative to traditional burying plots and procedures. Our newly installed columbarium is a place for the respectful and public storage of urns at historic Edge Hill Cemetery.  You can view the photos attached to this post or contact our office for details.

Confederate Military Cemetery Rehab

There are 184 Confederate graves in the military section of Edge Hill Cemetery.  Through grants from the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation we have managed to straighten the tombstones, place concrete around the bases to insure future stability and to clean the stones.  In addition we have cleaned the large central monument, replaced the marble fence corners and add a chain around the section as it was originally. This has been a multi-year project and he first phases of this work have been completed.  We now look forward to locating, cleaning, and repairing the eighty or so individual Confederate tombstones throughout the older portion of the cemetery the coming year.
